General Manager - Construction

For a leading EPC contractor, operating worldwide and executing large complex construction projects including petrochemical plants, electromechnical works, steel fabrication, etc.

 Role & responsibilities include:

  •  General, administration, Development and Control of the company and related ventures

  • Formulation, Implementation & Controlling the Policies, Procedures and Manuals of the Company

  • Preparation of the Organisational Structure, Planning and Projecting Manpower requirements and preparing job specifications for senior positions

  • Selecting, Inducting, Orientating, Developing, Motivating and Rewarding the Total Workforce within the Company

  • Managing the Company in the most efficient, effective and profitable manner

  • Maintaining the Continuity and development of the Company business

 Skills required:

  • Strategy, market, economic, financial and feasibility analysis

  • Cultural understanding, business and financial planning

  • Marketing, supply chain and strategic thinking

  • Negotiation, business and management skills

  • In market contacts/ networking

  • Research and development, quality assurance, market research, advertising, promotion, legal and financial knowledge

Candidate’s qualifications & experience:

  •  Academic: Ideally degree in engineering, preferably with additional management training;

  •  Experience: 12 – 15 years in one or more of the described sectors out of which, 5 -7 years must have been in a  General Manager or directly comparable  position:

  • English skills: must be able to understand, speak, read and write English fluently and Westerners preferred.

  • Selecting, inducting, orienting, developing, motivating and rewarding the company’s workforce.

  • Managing the company in the most efficient, effective and profitable manner.

  •  Responsible for maintaining the continuity and development of the company’s business.

  • Responsible for identifying growth potential areas of company business.  

Expected to have Middle East, ideally Saudi experience, and oil and gas or petrochemical background; with degree level qualifications preferably.

Resident Site Manager - Construction

  • Initially you will participate in FEED, development of construction strategy and procedures, constructability reviews, logistics, planning, and sub contractor selection. Then follow project to site, or alternatively remain in HO, undertaking regular visits.

  • Your experience therefore, will include managing multi-disciplinary teams / contractors on the overall site activities; requiring full familiarity with contract requirements, and ensure company policy and procedures on the project are implemented.

  • Almost certainly with a background in petrochemical or refinery (preferably) or oil and gas, in a major EPC contractor organisation, and proven ability to take responsibility for projects in demanding and often remote locations.

  • Also, likely possess an HNC minimum, or recognised equivalent - or commensurate direct experience.

  • For those not living in the region, weekly commuting is an acceptable option.
